Measures: MFAT (SPRING, EACH YEAR), MCAT (FALL & SPRING, EACH YEAR), Graduate Student Placement information: first job placement and publications resulting from research at Kent State (updated each graduation period; data from 1982 to present)
Biological Sciences anticipates use of the data from the outcomes assessment measures in several ways:
MFAT:
- Curriculum review, design, and development.
- Course design and development.
- As an aid in determining department strengths and weaknesses.
- Student advising.
- Use in undergraduate "recruiting brochure" for the department.
- As an indictor of the Pre-Medicine major in preparing students for medical school.
- As an indicator for suggesting curriculum review/changes to the College of Arts and Sciences (the Pre-medicine major is a College program and is a second major coupled with an academic department major. The majority or Pre-medicine majors elect one of the BSCI majors as the academic major).
Graduate Student Placement Information:
- As an indicator of departmental strengths and weaknesses in preparing students for career opportunities in biological sciences subdisciplines.
- As an information source for program and curriculum design and development.
- As an indicator for faculty staffing development.
