Kent State University I. Undergraduate Major 1. We will continue to administer the ETS English subject area examination to seniors in the Spring Semester of each academic year. The examination has been administered twice and will be given a third time in Spring 1993. However, since the group taking the test is a self-selecting sample of our better students, we continue to search for a better instrument. 2. This year for the first time we will seek to have all undergraduate majors who take the GREs report scores to the Department. Any students who take the LSAT, MCAT, or GRE will also be asked to report scores to us. 3. We will also begin reporting the results of our Writing Portfolio reviews, effective Spring 1993. 4. The Undergraduate Studies Committee is completing a thorough discussion and review of our assessment program and is expected to report on proposed changes in Spring 1993. II. Graduate Programs 1. For some years we have compiled data annually on the placements of our M.A. and Ph.D. degree recipients. We will continue to do so and report the data at the close of each academic year. The data will be compared to national figures compiled annually by the Modern Language Association for all Ph.D.-granting universities. 2. The Graduate Studies Committee is continuing a discussion of a more comprehensive assessment program, which will include a survey sent to recent graduates. |
