The process to nominate individuals for the Raymond J. Kuhn and Shirley J. Kuhn Excellence in Undergraduate Advising Award consists of the following steps. Click on selection criteria for qualities the EUAA Selection Committee expects the final recipient to possess. Click on eligibility rules to learn who can be nominated.
The complete nomination packet must include:
- Completed the Raymond J. Kuhn and Shirley J. Kuhn Excellence in Undergraduate Advising Award Nomination Form (Nominator)
- A Nomination Statement written by each nominator. (Nominator)
- An Advising Portfolio prepared by the nominee. (Nominee)
- A Letter of Support from department chair/dean, campus dean or collegial dean of the nominee.
- A minimum of 15 representative Student Evaluation of Advising responses received by the department are to be fowarded to the selection committee by the dean, chair or director.
Responsibilities of the various participants:
Nominator
- Complete The Raymond J. Kuhn and Shirley J. Kuhn Excellence in Undergraduate Advising Award Nomination Form
- Write Nomination Statement
- Send Nomination Form and Nomination Statement to the selection committee by the deadline date.
Selection Committee
- Notify all individuals nominated
- Confirm interest in participating
Nominee
- Prepare Advising Portfolio that consists of the following:
- Professional resume
- Personal statement detailing advising practices, policies, standards, and philosophy of advising
- Response to Academic Advisor Self Evaluation
- Representative advising materials developed by nominee
- Other supportive information
Chair/Dean
- Send letter of support
- Send statistical summary of student responses to "KSU Student Evaluation of Advising" (Minimum of 15)
- Send all free response comments submitted by students about the nominee when completing the KSU Student Evaluation of Advising
