Quality Service Award Team – Mathematics Support Team

Members are: Terri Capellman, Martha Deep, Jack Neuzil, Cathy O’Donnell, Mary Romans, Randy Ruchotzke, Barbara Schloman and Andrew Tonge. With the help of a grant from the Provost’s Office, the Mathematics Support Team expanded attendance in its outreach mathematics tutoring program from 449 students in the fall of 1999 to 2,538 in the fall of 2003. According to the nomination form, this team went “above and beyond normal job performance expectations in designing a program to reach out beyond its walls to serve students at a number of more convenient locations at more convenient times.” The expansion efforts also included a daytime tutoring program in the library and a summer tutoring program. The Mathematics Support Team has been recognized nationally for its efforts by receiving a “Best Practices in Student Retention” award from the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers in 2002.
