The Writing Tutoring Program is designed to help students strengthen their writing skills and to develop gradually as independent writers. Writing sessions at the Academic Success Center are process-oriented. Students will become confident, more aware of their strengths and weaknesses, and learn different strategies for becoming better writers. In addition, students will improve their spelling, punctuation, sentence structure, and style. Tutoring support is offered for all undergraduate English courses, as well as any writing intensive-courses. Academic Success Center programs are principally funded by a federal TRIO grant. Students who are first-generation college students, come from low-income backgrounds, or are disabled will be assigned services prior to students who do not meet grant eligibility criteria.
