College Student Inventory
The purpose of the College Student Inventory is to help you get started on the most productive path during your experience at Kent State University. It is not a test but an inventory to give you insight into your motivation, attitude and resourcefulness as a college student. This program promises to give you a realistic picture of the overall college experience. Get ready!

Freshman Advisory Council
The Freshman Advisory Council is the voice of the freshman class. The mission of the Council is to identify freshman issues to First Year Experience personnel and to help develop specific activities and events for freshman.  Members of the Council represent their freshman peers and work together in order to meet the goals of the council.

Summer Reading Program
The Office of First Year Experience has initiated the Summer Reading Program at Kent State.  All first year students read a designated book during the summer prior to their arrival in the fall. Freshmen utilize this material to participate in a discussion during the “Week of Welcome” and for other related activities throughout their freshman year. The Summer Reading Program was initiated in order to provide first-year students with a shared intellectual experience, to unify the community, and to engage the students in a campus-wide intellectual dialogue around diversity that will continue throughout the freshman year.

Freshman Academy: FYE Lecture Series
This series allows first-year students to explore topics of interest, presented by senior faculty, as they broaden their academic horizons.
