Journal Entry

Write a journal entry that allows you to reflect on the story. Your journal entry should record your own reactions, questions and observations about the reading. The entry should include quotes from the book and reactions/reflections from those quotes. In your entry you should answer the following questions:

  • I noticed that…
  • I don’t understand…
  • I’m surprised…
  • This reminds me of…
  • I began to think…
  • This is related to _____________ because….
  • If I were…
  •  I realized…

Example:

Quote/Passage from the book

Reactions/Reflections to that quote/passage

King: For your intent in going back to school in Wittenberg, It is most retrograde to our desire, And we beseech you, bend you to remain Here in the cheer and comfort of our eye… (Hamlet I, ii, lines 112 –116)

Is the King being serious – does he really like Hamlet? Is he suspicious and therefore wants him to stay around? Or is he trying reverse psychology to get him to leave? What’s the King’s angle here?
