What is the Summer Reading Program?

The Summer Reading Project is designed to welcome and connect incoming students to the Kent State community. Reading the book will provide a common ground for you to share with other students.

The objectives are to help you get acclimated to the environment and also to provide you with an understanding of the values, principles, and standards that Kent State takes pride in, while building and maintaining relationships that foster success. You will discuss the book during the “Week of Welcome” with faculty, students, and staff. You will also participate in campus-wide events throughout the year that are related to the book. The program, as a whole, will build a supportive and encouraging atmosphere that will ease the transition to university life.
