What do students gain?

The Primary Purpose of the PASS Program:

  • Receive computerized placement assessments
  • Receive individualized assistance with an academic advisor who will assist in reviewing your placement results as you select first semester classes
  • Register early for your semester classes and receive your class schedule
  • Receive your free Kent State email account and Flashcard (ID). Please bring a picture ID of yourself to obtain your Flashcard (driver's license, state ID, or passport)
  • Receive your Residence Hall room assignment
  • Discussion session with enrolled students

By attending KSU's PASS program, you will make an early and significant contact with Kent that will greatly ease your transition into college.

What do families gain?

A full program has been planned:

  • Discussion sessions focusing on adjustments when a student enters college
  • Information and presentations concerning residence halls, commuter services, and food services
  • Presentations regarding college expenses and financial aid
  • Presentations regarding computers,e-bills, the bookstore , and safety on campus
  • Optional : Visit models of Residence Hall rooms

The PASS program will enable you to ask questions and gain a better understanding of how to ensure the student's future success at Kent State University.

How can I be involved?

Participation in the PASS program is by invitation only, and you are invited according to your date of admission to Kent.

Those students admitted earliest (in fall and early winter) are invited first - - invitations are mailed on a rolling basis. Your time invested in the program is minimal, but the advantages of receiving early advising, placement assessment, and a class schedule can be very important to your success at Kent. For the best availability of course selection once you have received your invitation, it is to your advantage to do one of the following to secure a reservation in the PASS program:

  • Call the PASS office at (330) 672-2014
  • Fax the reservation form you received to the PASS office at (330) 672-9296
  • Mail your reservation form to the Admissions Office (allow seven days for the form to arrive at Kent)
