ADVICE FROM THOSE WHO KNOW:

We asked some transfer students what they would do differently if they had their 1st semester at Kent State to do all over again. Here are some of their responses. (And we swear we didn’t make these up!)
  • When it’s your turn to register, do it then! Don’t wait. Web for Students is great!
  • Don’t skip ANY classes at all!
  • Don’t schedule early classes so you can go out the night before. (See, we told you these weren’t our ideas! You think we’d tell you this?)
  • Don’t go out the night before an early class. (A much better suggestion!)
  • Talk to students who have been here awhile. They can be very helpful.
  • Get a daily planner. And use it. (We suggest the Flashguide, available at the KSU Bookstore.)
  • If you park at Taco Bell or Wendy’s, make sure they’re open so you don’t get towed.
  • Make sure you have the correct schedule, and you’re going to the right classes.
  • Don’t procrastinate! Turn your work in on time.
  • When you get a parking ticket, pay it immediately or else you’ll get a "hold" on everything!
  • As soon as you know what major you want, go to that department and start the process of declaring it.
  • Read the class syllabus!
  • Have fun!
  • Get to know the "lay of the land," i.e., where different buildings and services are on campus.
